Santa Tree Ornament!

For each ornament, you will need
   • one 2 1/2"w heart-shaped wooden
      cut out
   • one 5" square and one 2 1/4"
      X 8 1/2" piece of unprimed artists'
      canvas
   • two 5" x 8" fabric pieces for hat
   • one 5" x 8" piece of heavy paper
   • paper-backed fusible web
   • one 10mm red bead
   • one 10mm gold jingle bell
   • red embroidery floss
   • cosmetic powder blush
   • white gesso
   • foam brush
   • black permanent pen with fine point
   • tracing paper
   • craft glue
   • 9" of nylon line for hanger

***Please Note: These pattern pieces except for the beard, are actual size if using a 17" monitor. If you have a smaller or larger monitor, it should "print" in actual size. I've tested it on a 15" and 19" and it worked for me.

1. Trace hat, hat trim, eyebrow, and mustache patterns onto tracing paper; cut out.
2. Follow manufacturer's instructions to fuse web to wrong side of each 5" x 8" fabric piece. Fuse I fabric piece to each side of 5" x 8" paper piece.
3. Use hat pattern to cut hat from fabric-covered paper.
4. To prepare canvas, use foam brush to apply gesso to each side of 5" canvas square. Allow to dry.
5. Use patterns to cut I mustache, 2 eyebrows, and I hat trim from prepared canvas.
6. For beard, begin at I short edge (bottom) of 2 1/4" x 8 1/2" canvas piece and make cuts approx. 1/4" apart to within 1/2" of top edge (Fig. 1).

7. Use foam brush to apply gesso to front and back of beard, allowing strips to twist as gesso dries.
8. For cheeks, refer to Fig. 2 below and use finger to apply powder blush to heart.

9. Glue mustache, eyebrows, hat, and hat trim to heart. Glue bead to heart above mustache for nose. Allow to dry. Glue top 1/2" of beard to back of heart; allow to dry.
10. Use black pen to draw eyes.
11. Use a large needle to thread an 8" length of floss through tip of hat. Thread jingle bell onto floss and tie ends of floss into a bow. Place a dot of glue on bow and bell to hold bow flat and keep bell centered; allow to dry.
12. For hanger, knot ends of nylon line together. Glue knot to top back of heart,
